100 Days Sober

Well, it's been 100 days. The start of this attempt was tough. Every day for about 3 weeks I felt like ****! Then things slowly began to turn and I gained a little more hope that I could do this long term. The longest I've been alcohol free is 4 months... I'm looking at this long term so who knows, I think I can do it.

My head still feels heavy, the physical cravings aren't there, however I still don't feel "normal" what ever that is and I have no idea what a sober life is like. I haven't been alcohol free for decades.

It's scary, unchartered territory. I've captained my life to the best of my ability. I've known success and failure. I've given alcohol permission to take from me the things I value most in life. Time with family, advancement and stability in my career....so many things. The thing is, it's not too late to get things back on track. If I start drinking again, it will be.

I have a lot riding on this, I hope I can do it. It's hard to forgive myself for all the stupid things I've done and the years I wasn't fully plugged in and invested in my loved ones lives. I hope one day that I can believe that they believe in me again. That's what its all about, bottom line isn't it...if we don't believe it, then life's pretty empty.

Here's to 101 days and counting

You've described my exact situation. I just have less time in. I'm at 27 days and I feel horrible all the time. Hope it gets better. Good job to get to 100 days. I'm determined to keep it up also. We can do this.

Triple digits, Maiden. That's fantastic.

It is scary, unchartered territory but sobriety is so very much worth it. It gets easier and better, I promise.

Congrats on your 100 days!

Totally understand where you're coming from - I still have trouble with regrets, obsessing about what might have been if I hadn't wasted a ton of time drunk, and so on.

I'm right behind you - my last drink was on Friday, October 17th, 2014, which WolframAlpha tells me is exactly 100 days ago today.

Congrats on 100 days

I had to try and remember I'd been drinking for years...it can take a little time for that abuse to resolve itself.

100 days is great tho - I remember things getting a whole lot better around then

D

WTGGGG Newwestdork. You can understand where I'm at with this then. Like I know 100 days is amazing, but its still just a drop in the ocean compared to where I want to be in my sobriety...

What if I can't swim for that long...

I know the feeling, MaidenNZ. I've slipped a few times and I was griping to my sponsor that I "should" have this or that many days sober, and instead I was only at 60 or whatever it was. He told me "don't drink today. It's not a race. Nobody cares about how many days you have but you - I have 8231 days and nobody has given me a cookie or anything for it today."

Don't drink today. I'm not going to either. Tomorrow, we can both check in and see whether we're planning on drinking tomorrow. Repeat that for a while and we'll see where we end up. Worrying about "what if" is not going to help us with today.
