Metal Taste in mouth when beginning recovery

Hi there, I'm new here, and new to sobriety ... has anyone else experienced a funny metal taste in their mouth after the first few days into recovery ?

Can't say that I did but there are all types of crazy recovery symptoms.

I remember itching like crazy.

Nope no metal taste in my mouth, perhaps other crazy tastes.
Try brushing your teeth!

Nope, no meds - just an average of three bottles of Chardonnay every 24 hours for the past 6 months...maybe that metal taste is all the extra money I'll be saving from now on

Check your gums, they may be bleeding. I am afraid this sounds like medical advice but it isn't, go look at them in the mirror and if they don't look normal then see a dentist. My gums were all messed up and I had this for awhile when I quit.

maybe its something unique to Chardonnay with all that aging process in oak. it might have left a residue in your sytem.. but like Mike said, gums bleeding can give thatmetla taste

Hi,
When I was pregnant with our son I had a weird metal taste in my mouth ( in the beginning). I had also stopped all drinking. Slow forward ....21 years later when I began my recovery ....no metal taste.
Like always, I'd check with your doctor.

It could be acid reflux or another gastric issues caused by alcoholism. Somtimes these are initially worse after you give up drinking.

This may sound nuts but just a suggestion, if you have not been in a little while maybe a trip to the dentist. You will feel good afterwards and you never know what they may find...
