Feeling Frustrated
Feeling Frustrated
I'm just feeling stuck, sad, angry, lonely, idle, annoyed.
I'm not going to drink over it or anything. I just feel like I need some kind of release, or reset or something. I want everything to come to me and go away at the same time.
I dunno, I'm not saying much here I know.
Any advice? What do you guys do when feeling unpleasant?

Exercise, yoga, meditation, and deep breathing techniques can help to change perspective and attitude and provide relaxation.
Have you looked into volunteering activities? There is something about helping others that just seems to get me 'out of myself'; it truly helps.

I force myself to "switch gears" I switch whatever I happen to be doing and do something else.
Lately, the best thing I've done each day is to get lost in meditation as I peel and chop carrots for our dinner. It's been the best reset button for me. I somehow get energized after I do it.

What I do is make sure I go to at least one meeting a week. More meetings if possible to get a good dose of AA to get myself out of that funk.
I exercise once a week. This is huge in releasing tension and having a peace of mind. Some cardio. Light squats or even full range bodyweight squats, pushups, light good mornings, light stiff leg deadlifts, situps, lots of stretching.
I think it out and do an inventory of myself on what's going on and try and do an attitude adjustment.
What I do that also helps is to go out and treat myself to a movie at the movie theater. Sometimes with a friend, but mostly alone.
And most of all I just remember to be grateful for my sobriety. Which is why I post on the gratitude thread quite a bit.
