Guinea Pig, how about you come here every day? check in with us. Climb the days one at a time. that's how I did it. Some days are harder than others but when we have each other it's easer. have you looked at AVRT? rational recovery made a huge difference for me.

The restaurant across the street makes a good dark seafood gumbo. My favorite is the quick white chicken gumbo I learned from my last wife's cajun grandmother. Just chicken stock, canned chicken and frozen gumbo veg. Served with rice. It's ready in an hour.

You posted the recipe for this once didn't you?
Do you mind sharing it again so I can give it a try-I've got some canned chicken on hand and it sounds quick and yummy.

1 quart chicken stock
1 large 12 oz can chicken
1 pound frozen gumbo veg

Dump all in a pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer 1/2 hour.

I season it to taste with Tony Chachare's low sodium spice blend and serve with rice. You can add more frozen okra at the start if your veg mix seems lacking. It's the okra that provides the thickening.

This makes 4 big servings and can be doubled, tripled, etc. Throw in some good bread and a salad and dinner is served.

These are good ideas.

For awhile I really had trouble wrapping around quitting again after my "moderation" relapse and it does feel hit and miss. So frustrating, isn't it?

Hugs GP. You can do this.

oh yes, Trach! Please post it! It might take our minds off the turtle soup.....

I have a can of white chicken too. I think it should be one of those pantry staple items. I have cans of salmon, tuna and always have some pasta in there too. I made a good sorta chicken parm the other night. Very very easy and you can make it up the day before, refrigerate and bake the next day. I like to serve it over spaghetti pasta with green salad on the side.

Love from Lenina

Thanks Trach! We don't get decent okra put here. I don't know why. California grows just about anything but decent okra. XXOO

Whipped okra? Umm...I don't know....I love fried okra, but I do it in the oven. Slice and spray with olive oil, toss in bread crumbs and Parmasan cheese. Spread on a cookie sheet (I use that parchment paper but foil works fine too) and bake in a hot oven for about 20 minutes. Yum.

I think the bunch of us would have fun in the kitchen.

I understands Guinea Pig, even if you has off wagon day, is okay to come and speak about it. Myself, I have coffee today, which is like poking crazy bear who destroy my life, but I did it anyways. Now I fighting off urges. Lucky I have AA meeting tonight and should be okay. Hopeful tomorrow I wake up with stronger will.

I love fried okra, too. I batter it in Louisiana Fish Fry coating--it's got the right amount of salt and paprika for my taste.

Cow, I don't know about you, for me, the problem wasn't my lack of will. I had to decide I was good and finally, totally done. no excuses, no BS, no calliope in my head urging me on to the Big Top of the drunken heap. I know there's things I can't do, places I don't go because I cannot do it. Also, I have no regrets about it. I don't BS myself with romance of how I want it to be. And it did get easier for me.

I'm watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire while the lasagna bakes for the community feed. I might need bail money. LOL

If anyone is interested I posted a new thread, "Full Disclosure." Cow and Friends are mainly who I was speaking to. I did not want to take up space on Cow's thread though for my own (lengthy) post.

Thank you for you considerations, WalkB4Run. ...Now if only peoples who spend like 10 pages talking about okra were as polite. (I kid, I know is pretty much crazy ass free-for-all circus here.)

I can see it now... the okra thread on SR. For some odd reason thinking about that is giving me the giggles.

Guinea Pig, do you have some fruit? I've been eating these clementine oranges. I like peeling them and they are nice and sweet. have you made dinner yet? Can you change up the routine you have this time of day? maybe write in a journal? I'm glad you came to post here.

do you like okra?
