There are just too many similarities...I'am SCROOGE !

I just finished watching "A Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott (American) and was amazed at how much I saw ME...in him !

God help me...and "God bless us...everyone"!

Second Collector: You wish to be anonymous?
Ebenezer: [firmly, but calmly] I wish to be left alone. Since you ask me what I wish sir, that is my answer. I help to support the establishments I have named; those who are badly off must go there.

Hey Dave. I would recommend also reading the original Charles Dickens novel if you liked the character. I could certainly identified many aspects of drinking myself with it :)

i would find myself crying at the scrooge film at the end when he starts doing good for others instead of being mean and not caring etc

there is a huge lesson for everyone who seeks happiness in life in that film the answer is right there for how to change

i value my sobriety and life today just like scrooge does when he wakes up and finds out he has been given another chance

i have another chance, i got my kids back, i got a job back, i got money again, i got a car again i got a home, and i value you them all these days.as i know what its like to have nothing and i dont intended to end up like that again

i do like scrooge does and i try to help people these days or just be as good as i can in all my affairs instead of always looking for whats in it for me, or writing people off as total rubbish etc

the change doesn't happen over night and its always on going with no end but its sure is a better more fulfilling way of life i have today than i ever had in all my years before

Yeah. "A Christmas Carol" has had an effect on me.
 

Scrooge: "Spirit before I draw nigh to that stone, answer me this. Are these things you have shown me shadows of those that will be...or shadows that maybe only? Say I may change these things by an altered life."

Spirit of Christmas yet to come: Say's nothing. Points to the grave marker covered in snow.

Scrooge: "Spirit... mens courses will fore-shadow certain ends. That I accept. But if those courses are departed from the ends must change. Tell me that is true spirit, by what you show me."

Spirit: Still pointing to the grave stone with a crooked boney finger.

Scrooge: "Good spirit, your nature interceeds for me in pity. Say I may change these things by an altered life.
Tell me...TELL ME I may sponge away the writing on this stone! Spare me"!

Excellent book! :) And I liked the British film of it too. Never seen the American film.

Least...was that one with Patrick Stewart as Scrooge ?

Yes! :) Altho there is one older film, I believe, that's a British adaptation of the novel that I remember watching. But Patrick Stewart is so good as Scrooge. :) Yes, I looked it up. It was made in 1951 and starred Alastair Sim as Scrooge.

NPR just did a full broadcast reading to the Dickens novel on Christmas Eve. I listened to parts of it on the way to and from work. You might be able to stream the audio version free from their website. I'm a huge Dickens fan. Love David Copperfield (the book, not the magician).
My personal favorite TV version is the Disney Mickey's Christmas Carol (yeah, yeah, I know). Also check out Scrooged with Bill Murray. I think it's on Netflix right now. Worth a look.

I really do enjoy audio books. I can close my eye's and be really absorbed by the "movie" I see running in my head. When I read, much of the time my mind wanders. It's strange...I can be reading the words but my thoughts are on something else.
