When I first came into the rooms, I didn't understand the words "powerless" and "unmanagable". This is what defined it for me.
1) If I drink one beer, I cannot say that I'll be home for dinner.
2) If I was obsessing over when/how/what my next drink was going to be, my life was unmanagable.
I would watch the clock at work, waiting for 5:00 so I could go home eat and then drink. That is powerless and unmanagable to me.
