Day 5...

Gosh, it seems like weeks since I've had a drink but it's only been 5 days!

Hi all:-) I'm new here. I'm 40, been a drunk for the past 3 years, which got increasingly worse this past year.

I've tried quitting before unsuccessfully, but this time is weird, something different about it. It's like I didn't expect to actually quit and I haven't had to try very hard. Which is why I was skeptical at first that this sober thing would even "stick." But now that I've made it this far (which for me, and I'm sure many of you can relate as well, 5 days is a LOT), I plan to stick it out.

Anyway. .. I appreciate each and every one of you who share with everyone on here. I look forward to reading more threads and learning more about you all...and myself along the way:-)

Good luck my friend.. but remember, DO NOT underestimate the power of Booze.

It will wait until you aren't prepared, then it will attack..

Keep your guard up!

Yes, it's quite powerful so thanks for the reminder!!

I am wondering something now.... I know it's only been 5 days, but when does the motivation come?? I used to be very active in the gym and am looking forward to getting back. It would be such a healthy distraction for me. But I just feel "blah," like in a daze, like not really present.

How long did it take you to get motivated?

Alwyshope12 11-28-2014 12:28 PM

It's hard to say there is one clear date. All depends on how much you drank, how long, and your body's unique chemistry.

For me, it took like 45 days to start having motivation to get moving again. I slept a lot and just tried to get through the pain, mostly emotional.

But have absolute faith, you will feel better than you ever have when you get through it

Welcome daybyday. I'm on day 7. I have good days, and bad days. I don't drink one day at a time. Keep on keeping on!

dbd,
welcome.
motivation will come when it comes.
and if it doesn't you can help it along.
i've found that there are times i need to make myself take small steps in order to fuel the motivation. kickstart it.

congratulations on you five days!
