There is life after alcohol
Going away this weekend down to Suffolk for a huge milestone family party, celebrating my husbands cousins 70th birthday and his sons 40th.
Fine. Actually have dog sitter all planned for my doggies (unheard of for me!) because my husband wanted to go so badly & the hotel doesn't take dogs! Am now actually quite looking forward to it. Not, I hasten to add, the actual party, as, to be fair, that will be the same as they all are and I know exactly what to expect there. But, my main focus is on the other aspects of the weekend: beautiful location, lovely walks, driving to other surrounding areas for meals and shopping etc. Catching up with family and generally having a lovely social time of things. Mainly, waking up Sunday bright & early feeling great, looking forward to breakfast and the rest of the day.
I could not do any of this if I were drinking. I would just drink as much as I could get down me on the night then die the next day just wanting to stay in bed!!!!
I know what weekend I prefer! X

This sounds so much more appealing, I remember when I was pregnant and didn't drink feeling exactly the same you see a different perspective on life and I enjoyed things like food more, wanted to indulge in hobbies etc! Hope you have a nice weekend :-)
Your description of the location, walks, shopping, and time with family sounds so appealing! Thank you for the reminder about all of the amazing things we miss when drinking. I'm also grateful that my life isn't tied to alcohol, anymore--anticipating, using, and recovering from it.
Have a lovely weekend, Lilyknitting!
