8 to 10 bucks a day for me. That's around 3k a year, I probably spent more.
Drinking career estimated grand total= $27, 500.00 over a 15 year stretch. Again, I probably spent more.
That's not counting the tobacco habit I kicked or the supid crap I bought while drinking. I plan on saving 4k to 5k a year.
A huge waste of time & money however you slice it.

Pulltight's comment made me laugh because I remembered how much late night drunken Ebaying I used to do.
Also reminds me of a Patton Oswalt bit:
"I get drunk enough to sit around on the internet in my underwear and order stamps. Yeah, stamps - I win!"
Saving a lot of money these days. Thanks for the reminder

Alcohol is so cheap in Brazil. If I didnt have money I would buy the cheapest "cachaça" available (cachaça is 80 proof liquor like vodka or whiskey) A half liter plastic bottle costs $0,75. That's what homeless people drinks here.
soberwolf has a point, but in my drinking days I felt so much superior drinking cachaça alone than those people buying overpriced drinks at the clubs. It doesnt matter anyway, its all poison.
I was spending 7.50 on the traveler of Korski, 6.50 on a pack of cigarettes, then gas money/per day.
BUT... I can subtract eating expenses since I was drinking my meals. But then i need to add some hospitalizations.
Its a very complicated equation, but in the end, it was A LOT for me.
There is an app called I am sober for your phone that you can put an estimated amount per day in and it will add it up for yah each day your are sober

I'd spend about $12 a day on my mickey of stoli's, not expensive by any means but it does add up, over 300 a month, 3600 a year!

I have calculated it before but don't remember now, just that it was a lot. Three 30 packs a week at $15 each plus beers at the bar. Then the weekly "occasional" good six pack at like $10 for one six. I was doing somewhere over $200 a month.
$8 for a six of coronas (or something else good), and 2-3 little buddies at $2. That was a week night, a weekend would be a that plus a couple 1/2 pints of southern comfort, at $10 a pop. I had to buy the small ones, cause if I bought a fifth I would drink it up. Disgusting.
I totally relate. Oddly I don't think about this much sober. But yeah I remember, drinking the cheap "during the week/EVERYDAY" beers (a 30 pack of something American usually) and then splurging on the "good ones" (imports or microbrews) on the weekends. All that money. It's sad but true. Really glad to be sober today.
not only am I saving on the booze..but I"m saving on the stupid impulse buys. Damn, I'd be the supermarkets dream... I'd walk in a bit 'drunk' and I'd buy sushi, and $16 a pound steaks. YEAH. I was a good time charlie..and if I was tipsy, NO cheap wine for me...NO sir. I had the good stuff. I've never figured out the costs, I think I'd be sick.
