I'm still early in sobriety, 11 months, and its different for everyone but my experience has been that the obsession does quiet down over time.

That's not been my experience

For sure, I thought about it for a long time...it was the longest adult relationship I had - but now it's not something that registers with me

Stick with it SimplyNothing

Okay. That's a relief. It's really discouraging. I like the term AV that people use. That's what it is. A little monster that I nursed over a few years into a meddlesome little twit.

Hopefully if I stop feeding it it'll die off.

Thanks by the way. I appreciate it IonRay. Physically I feel great. I escaped withdrawal phase with only the shakes, nausea, headaches, and profound weakness, among some psychological issues. Now I'm just dealing with this voice that goes off for probably the better part of half of my day.

Truthfully, I've been using pot to shut it up sometimes. but I figure the lesser of two evils is exactly that.

Thanks D. That's encouragement in a discouraging phase.
