From reading many posts, this varies a lot for individuals and may have some correlation to how long and how much you drink.

So I can only speak for myself. I've been drinking heavily (pint+ of vodka) everyday for 5 years or so and smaller amounts 15 years prior to that.

Appetite: It was never normal when I drank. It would come and go. I would binge on food and go w/o food for sometime. After quitting, I started eating regularly almost immediately. (next day)

Sleep: It's been 10 days and it's not normal. I have serious insomnia. 3-4 hours per day on average. I think it's getting better gradually tho.

I don't know about you, but I found lack of sleep after quitting way better than drunk sleep and/or being hung over.

Hey there.
Appetite a matter of days.
Sleep, a week or so.

But if you're having trouble sleeping, put the time to good use.
Being awake at night is a pain.
But not anything to get freaked about.

For me.

Food: About two weeks.
Sleep: Just starting to sleep through the night - I am 6 weeks sober.
Brain: Still feels foggy at times but I am improving.
Energy Level: OK but could be better. Sometimes I feel like a deflated balloon.
Bonus: Mornings are a real joy.

My appetite was normal right away (stomach of steel, runs in the family), but it took me weeks and perhaps even months for the sleep cycle to normalize.

Start working out asap, if you are not already doing so. It will have multiple positive effects on you. 1. It will increase your blood flow speeding up toxin removal. 2. It will considerably elevate your mood post workout, give you more energy and help you shed some booze fat 3. It will help you sleep like a baby. You have probably heard this already but its true, you have to make a big change to stop, so get hooked on exercise and hang out with healthy people. Join a running club or cycling team/group. Be accountable to others and it will be much harder to slip up. Its to easy to talk yourself into a drink but when others are involved it becomes much harder. Best of luck to you!!

Depends on the person and underlying issues. I would say generally, depending on duration and type of drink, should take a week or 2 for appetite, normal sleep can take longer.
