Im new here
Hi everyone,
I am new here and it has taken a lot of confidence to come on here. I've got to a point now where alcohol is starting to cause big problems in my life, causes a big strain with relationships and also my health is starting to suffer. I don't depend on alcohol (yet) which is why I want to get help before it comes an even bigger problem. I can never just have one drink and I don't know when to stop. I get violent and rude and become a completely different person to who I am when I'm sober!
I'm hoping that this forum will help me out and to be able to talk to people in similar positions as me

You've come to the right place, that 1st drink was my problem also and I had to part ways with alcohol as a result to regain my life back!!

Welcome, Ashlee, to SR. Recognizing that you have a problem with alcohol is a great first step.
You will find an abundance of support, encouragement and understanding here. Have you looked into a "Class" here; you might want to checkout the Class of August, 2014 or wait for the Class of September, 2014 (Dee or one of the other moderators will open the thread on September 1st).

Hi Ashlee - welcome.
That's how I was too - I'd take a couple of drinks & it turned me into someone I didn't recognize. I didn't try to stop until I'd caused all sorts of problems for myself & others. I'm glad you're recognizing the problem and seeking help. We're glad to have you here.

Great first step!! This was site was always an inspiration to me and helped me get near 1 year sober. Sobriety is so rewarding always remember that on your journey. Its well worth the effort and at times struggle. Any questions, worries or concerns post on the site and those who have gone through everything you are going through will offer great advice.
