Dear Alcohol - Written by a friend when she was in rehab

Dear Alcohol --- by Cathy U. --- May 2014

Dear Alcohol,

You first seduced me when I was quite young, and stole my innocence. We've been together most of my life, and I fell in love with you from the start. Together we have seen a lot of good times, as well as bad times. I mostly remember the bad, but still I remained faithful to you not matter what people said. You were always there to comfort me when I thought no one else was, and for that I thank you. Things have now changed between us. You made my life unmanageable and it time for us to say good bye forever. All you ever did was bring me pain. God knows I've hurt enough, and it can’t be “till death do us part”. I deserve better. I've found someone new. For the first time I feel happy, alive and loved like never before. I call her “Recovery” and she calls me “Change”. Together we plan to live happily ever after.

It feels good to say,

Goodbye
