poor me poor me pour me another drink
poor me poor me pour me another drink
a little saying that I have heard used around AA for a number of years
"poor me poor me pour me another drink"
makes much sense to the old guy on the mountain today
for if I stay in the "poor me's" as proven by my past relapses
before long I will have yet another Bud can in my hand
and be washing down a few other little things with it
just for today let's stay far away from the "oh poor me"

It's ok to feel sorry for ones self but taking faith and strength to turn your lot around is better than wallowing in self pity. I can't think of a more insufferable character defect that takes the wind out of my sails.
Thankfully, I've never been one for self-pity. I'm pretty good at accepting things for what they are and moving on. However, I do understand how wallowing in self-pity could easily lead to relapse.
poor me poor me pour me another drink
is one of the most important things I have learned in sobriety
if I get the poor me going and keep it going
a drink might not be too far away
best to stay out of self and self pity today

Yes, she will and does -- if I stay sober today.
A place that I was stuck in during much of my drinking days.
Didn't even think about it much at the time.
In sobriety I can ponder these things.
Still growing up at the age of 64.
Will you still need me
will you still feed me
when I'm 64 ?
Yes, she will and does
if I stay sober today.
