First day taking antibuse, just found bottle of cider, ffs

Took double dose (2x200mg) 24 hours ago. Annoyingly, having reassured myself all booze was gone, just found an old 2L 5% bottle of cider, and had pint of cider an hour ok (stupidly, I know) I checked the half life of antabuse and read some other experience reports, seems takes a few days to build up to dangerous levels [60-120 hours?! ******* hell, that will still be rising for 4+ weeks]. Feel ok. The side effects do kick in quick, right?

dw I wont have more but just wanted to ask.

and hey all

Just flushed it, btw, not worth risking me having any more. I hadn't drunk for two days before this which is why my doctor agreed the prescription as a conjunct with group help, sods law I would find an old bottle tonight.

Hi. I have no idea what the answer to your question is. Got someone to take you to the ER if necessary?

You must not drink alcohol while you are taking this medicine, or for two weeks after stopping this medicine, as alcohol will cause the disulfiram reaction. Symptoms include flushing, a racing heartbeat, dizziness, throbbing headache, shortness of breath, palpitations, nausea and vomiting. The reaction can be potentially dangerous.

Good luck and call a medic if you have a bad reaction.

Like others have said if you start to feel unwell see a Dr or hit the ER.

I was on antibuse years ago for an infection and I forgot about the "no alcohol" warning on the label. I drank and didn't feel any ill effects right away. I woke up in the middle of the night and puked my guts out all over the place. I felt miserable! If I were you I would lay off the booze...NOW.

It's down the toilet. As I said above. Thanks for caring.

Went a bit red faced, even down to top shoulders, and pretty warm faced, only effect I noticed. Side effects already subsiding.

Yeah so that was a bit silly.

Hope I dont puke, meh.

Good luck man. Looking at the timestamps, you're likely out of it, and fast asleep. I was just wondering what sites are good for checking this sort of thing. I may be in the same situation in a few weeks. Well, hopefully not in the sense I'm doing anything risky, but knowledge is power, ya know? I'm still struggling to find a good doctor.
