Hi and welcome. There is a lot of good advice above for someone who wants to get and stay sober. The feelings involving fear pop up and we ask how can we live without our best friend alcohol? Doing it for ourselves is the answer then many good things will follow IF we let them. At times we hang on one minute at a time, we try to think of not drinking instead of our old patterns of thought. Our number one priority is we don’t drink even if our A$$ falls off!
We don’t pick up the first drink so we never have to get sober AGAIN.
I needed the face to face people in AA who understand us and comfort us in tough times while showing through example how to live sober.
It may be difficult at times but is absolutely worth it.
BE WELL
