If nothing else it will give you a place to go where no one is drinking.
You don't need to explain yourself or why you continue to drink.
Just go to a few meetings, sit down and listen to others talk about their alcoholism.

I'm struggling right now. Had some good therapy sessions. The guy suggested tapering down would be the best option for me and staying away from the benzos. We're going to make a proper tapering down plan on Monday. I've been tapering down myself last 2 days. Had less yesterday and am going to have less today. Been off the benzos when drinking as well.
But right now I'm feeling really edgy. Had two cans of 9% strong beer so far. 2 cans left. I'm really craving the benzos though. They out of sight but I just want to open that draw and down a few. It would really relax me. But I'd be letting myself and my therapist down. Please convince me not to do it.

By all accounts, benzo withdrawal is not fun. Couple that with alcohol withdrawal and I think you can expect not to feel great for a while, Captain.
It's rough but that's early recovery. You're not alone tho - tons of support here
