July 4th BBQ

Just got home from a BBQ. There was alcohol everywhere, but it wasn't a problem. I had a few Fauxitos with mint leaves and set off a ton of illegal fireworks instead.

Fauxitos sound wonderful and so does your sober Fourth if July. Well done!
We hosted family at my house and even though my Mom was drinking one of my old favorite wines~I was totally fine with my non alcoholic beverage. Now I'm ready for bed and I just love knowing that I had another day to be proud of.

Glad you guys enjoyed your day.
I spent the evening here in Ireland with my mother and brother watching the World Cup. I'm staying with them for a bit. They had a few drinks, having asked if I'd mind. I didn't. And I enjoyed the night, even if the football was rubbish!

Good stuff. I am having my second BBQ of the weekend as soon as the guests arrive. Lots of beer and wine at last night's BBQ and I suspect today's will be the same. I will (as always-now) be alternating between iced tea and ginger ale.

It would have been difficult for me earlier in sobriety, but no problem now.

Something for newer people to look forward to - life normalizes. Give it as much time as you think you need.

Nonsensical that sounds wonderful. Have a great time. How cool that alcohol doesn't make gatherings like this painful anymore. It's such a huge burden to be chained to. But you did the work and now the weight is lifted.

Ah Human Nature at its finest, the flashing color, the glitz, the glamour, it never ceases to amaze me Human Nature, no matter what age you be. Great you had a blast, we can not hide from alcohol, must live life on lifes terms.
