Hi all

My name is Michael and I wanted to introduce myself as a new comer. I have have drank for many years and have now run into an event that is now changing my life. I was arrested for disorderly conduct and am court ordered to maintain absolute sobriety until the court date.

Now I am not joining this site, just to make it to the court date. I am starting to look back at my life, my future and trying to determine my my future has for me.

I hope you can accept me.

welcome Michael
sorry to hear about your run-in with the law...I'm in a bit of trouble myself. It's unfortunate that it took something like that to make us sit and ponder that "hrm...perhaps it's time to fix this alcohol issue"....but it is what it is.

everyone is welcome here!
lots of info. on all kinds of recovery. I've been on for 2mths and am STILL finding areas I didn't see before!

Welcome Michael.

Even though your post is short, I can feel the sadness and regret in it...we've all been there, for sure.

Please stick around, and am sure you will find support and resources here to help you.

welcome MKH. one question: What are your intentions after the court date, to go back to drinking or do you have a desire to stop drinking for good?

I had no intentions to stop drinking. Then one day something happened that changed my life. Drinking caused me to lose my job. I haven't drank since. That was it. No questions or doubts. I told myself that my drinking finally did me in. That was enough to commit to never drink again. Take a look on the secular connections forum. There are some good discussions about it - saying no forever.

Well looking back at my post, I guess it would appear to people that I am just trying to stay sober just to make it to the court date. That isnt the case. Getting thrown in jail is a wake up call for me and possibly a blessing in disguise.

Welcome Michael. It's so good you found us & reached out for some help.

I had a wake up call too - after many years of playing with fire. I got 2 dui's in a row, and still I didn't learn my lesson. My whole life had to come unglued for me to join here and get serious about stopping. You can definitely turn this thing around and have a new life. Talking it over with us will help - we all understand what you're going through.
