Regaining sense of smell?

My years of drinking ruined my sense of smell. Did anyone lose and regain theirs after quitting?

I read that it can take up to two years for neurological healing after quitting drinking.

Mine is a little better at 5 years sober. I can smell strong smells now (paper mill, poop, smoke, gasoline, and bacon). Lol

between drinking and smoking my sense of smell was gone. I almost wish that it didnt tho bad smells magnified stink! it can be nice sometimes. then i changed my diet and it got even better. I swear i have super smelling now. I can smell a dog pile while running thats a 100 yards away. My sense of smell is off the charts. Great when your smelling flowers and such but when its something foul it just smacks you in the face.

Yes and I thought that was so weird. Suddenly smells were stronger or stuff I did not smell before I could after quitting. I thought I was the only one.

Isn’t that the way it always goes. We think we are unique and along comes someone to prove we are not..lol

I think a lot of my senses were dullled while I was drinking, and they have definitely improved since I quit.

Losing my sense of smell really freaked me out during my last few months of drinking. This added to my overall anxiety that eventually put me in the ER with severe panic attacks. Luckily, I quit drinking that day and my sense of smell came back within a few weeks. Now, 5 years later, all of my senses are better than ever.
