Doing service work without expectations

I always love giving rides it makes me feel useful and I do it because others have done it for me. Part of being sober is doing service work and helping another newcomer. Sometimes though I expect those that I give to do something in return for me and I am not proud to admit that but that is something I am trying to change. But overall I love doing service work.

Old ways of thinking take a while to change, just keep trying.

Giving rides is service work something called "Bridging the Gap", yeah for sure I felt better when someone cared enough to give me a ride after meeting. Service work is also going to meetings and sharing, doing the meeting before the meeting and doing the meeting after the meeting. Chairing meetings. Cleaning up the room. Making coffee, Cleaning Ashtrays, picking up cigarette butts. The best is when you dont tell anyone and just do it, otherwise when I start telling people, its just ego inflation.

Thanks for pointing out the ego inflation I needed to hear that. I will think very carefully about what you just said.

Doing the right thing for the wrong reason is good.

Dong the right thing for the right reason is better.

Doing the right thing for no reason at all is best.
