Day 4001
Day 4001
This morning I was woken at 4am by the Lapwings doing their best squeaky toy impression through the bedroom window.
It's day 4001. Four thousand days since I had a drink and it's great to wake up every morning - even if rudely so at the hands of the local wildlife.
Just wanted to say Hi to everyone, I usually pop by every year, but the nice round number made me stop and think back what the past, very nearly 11 years, have done for me.
I hope everyone has a good day - and do take a few seconds to watch the birds and breath deeply and relax. Even if it is 4am at the time, and add one more glorious day to your tally.

Exactly . . . everyone here on SR knows how difficult, inspirational and how much of an achievement 4001 days is!! . . . that's because we understand addiction, it's a serious business!!
No one here underestimates how far you've come!!

Wow, I stopped counting days after about year 2 or 3, then I started to count the years. Stopped counting years at about year 9 or 10. Your 11 or so years is great.
The sponsorship tree that we have now is amazing, I am currently sponsoring a few new men and women now that are night and day from when I first met them over 7 months ago. There attitude has totally changed. They stopped twitching there leg, they can sit still, their minds dont wander, and they are sponsoring a few brand new people themselves. I see in those people a massive change as well. It feels good to help your fellow human being from the brink of death. I keep learning from them.

Congrats degadar, it sounds like sobriety has been good to you!
Your number made me curious so I put my date in the sober calculator.
I have had a bit over 35.5 million sober heat beats (423 days). It sounds like a lot when you count by the seconds. I still remember the 17th of every month but I have reached the point where I don't think about it too much.
