I checked myself into rehab for 70 days, and have been sober since. I was terrified, but it turned out to be a very good decision.
I'm going to pay them a visit tomorrow with a simple bunch of flowers - they did a great job, so a small thank you is the least I can do.
I know that everything can change in a New York minute, but right now being sober feels good and feels... right.

. Happy 2nd Chief! At my 1 Year Birthday this last November, I went to my Rehab to thank my counselor . She's known as a toughie, but I love her. I think saying thank you and with flowers is very special indeed.

I thought about giving back to the detox that helped me out both times. You can donate money and a number of other items that are needed and I've thought about doing it. I probably will give back once I'm more financially stable myself.
Thanks folks. I have postponed the visit until tomorrow, firstly because, while I did stop drinking on the evening of the 12th and thus put the 13th as my sobriety date, I went to the rehab facility on the morning of the 14th. For some reason I wanted to be sober when I got there. (I didn't say I was smart, I would advise against doing this, knowing what I know now, but anyway).
Also, tomorrow they are less busy, as most patients will be home for the weekend. After 2 weeks inpatient you can choose to go home on the weekend, provided you did not relapse etc. The first weekend "out" you have to come back in for the night, from the second one you can opt to stay at home on the night from Saturday to Sunday. And yes, of course there's a full test when you come back to the facility.
I still see a counselor about every month, and I asked her if they wouldn't find it a bit weird to see a patient after all this time. She answered that they are pretty much used to seeing their patients again, but for the wrong reasons. Ahem, cheeky! But yeah, she agreed that it would be a good thing to do, both for me and for the staff.
Will report back. Thanks again for the kind comments.
