I have had it for some years now
I know exactly what you mean -- I hate having this
used to have it in both ears -- but now only one -- but loud
there are support groups
one just a while back started in my City -- been meaning to make it there

Yeah tinnitus is horrible, with it slowly increasing over the months i dare not think how it will be in the future!
Quite a few famous tinnitus sufferers, i know pete townshend, from The Who has got quite a bad case as well.
I've had tinnitus most if my life. I had many ear problems as a child which were most likely the source. I can't give you a magic solution, but I have learned to live with it as I have no other option. I can tell you that drinking is NOT a cure though...that is merely your addiction trying to rationalize drinking.
"maybe a God wake up call ??"
actually I had all of the makings for a good case of tinnitus
loud motorcycles since the age of around 6 years old
very loud music in my party days (close to 40 years)
played drums in a rock band for a while
but, it was not until
one day around 8 years ago I was drinking very heavily
down by the lake in my motorhome
mixing much booze with many prescription pills
yes -- I went into a deep sleep for many hours
when I awoke I noticed this loud ringing in my ears
what happened -- I'm not sure
my best guess is lack of blood to the ears ??
shared this with my Sponsor and he said
"that it was God calling"
I say -- "maybe a God wake up call ??"
yes -- I have been beat up from it all
given some time -- living life in the fast lane takes a toll on one
booze and pills just don't work for me
and, as I look back I see where they never did

Thanks Scott and bob, your right, drinking doesn't help, I just feel like it doesn't matter if I'm sober or not because I'm not happy anyway?
As sad as it sounds I think the only pleasure I will get in life is several hours of an evening with an 8 pack, unless I somehow learn to be happy regardless of the noise, but during the past 2 years that hasn't happened, but I'm still sober, not giving in just yet, but long term my outlook has to change if this is going to work.
I gave up smoking a year and a half ago and when I'm really fed up I feel like saying screw it and have a beer and a smoke, but I've successfully resisted temptation so far.

I have had tinnitus for seven years now, some days are better than others. Their are days that it can be overwhelming, most days it is moderate and some days I don't really notice it. But you do learn to live with it. I have learned , for me , that their are things that seem to make it worse. If I drink a lot of Pepsi or other soda drinks my ear starts screaming at me. I avoid all soft drinks now, also salt and caffeine. Keeping my blood pressure in normal range is helpful too. And as silly as this may sound, I speak to it and tell it to "shut up and leave me alone" and it really helps. Their are self hypnosis CD 's that deal with tinnitus, I bought one from amazon for $1 last time I was sober for a spell and it did help. I started using again and stopped listening to it.
Ive have a constant ring in ear also, but I can assure you drinking is not going to give any happiness. Try having a hangover with the condition you have. That will be terrible. Hang in there always. It will get better for you.
I have to take aspirin because of a ill regular heart beat (thins the blood)
I know for sure that the aspirin makes the ringing worse
a short time after taking the aspirin it get's a little louder
one must do what they have to do
is this ringing part of my wreckage of my past
I would bet money on it
