The day that you learn you've earned back trust
I have been with my husband for 15 years and although in the beginning we did things together he stopped wanting to go anywhere with me. I don't blame him. When people would ask where he was I would say "he likes to do his own thing and that's ok because I actually have more fun without him because he always wants to leave early". What I really meant was that I could drink as much as my heart desired with no one watching over me. It was never about the fun, it was about the drinking.
Invited to a Memorial Day BBQ by MY friends no less. This morning he asked what time we had to be there (believe me, to ask and show interest is a BIG first). Then my jaw dropped. The words "I'm really looking forward to this" came out of his mouth. I looked at him and said "Who are you and what did you do with my husband?"
I've done it, he is completely comfortable attending an event where there will be alcohol AND he's looking forward to us going.
It's been a long road to get here It's a beautiful day!

very cool ladyblue...
One thing tho ::: "Who are you and what did you do with my husband?"
That person was always there. It is something YOU did that brought this out.
Many congratulations. I know that you will have many more times of sharing together.

Oh that's lovely. I felt it when my kids asked for MY help at weekends, they know I'm willing to spend time with them, take them places, help them study. For years they avoided me like the plague as I was either drunk or withdrawing.
