On the path of self improvement
Hey Karate, I must admit I have been going the opposite way with sugar and sugary snacks lately, but I think that's down to convenience etc. but I'm trying to cut out the caffeine just now. Will see how that goes first before I try anything else.
Have a good one buddy.

I think that's one of the top 3 things a person can do to better both their physical and mental health. Exercise is another. Not sure what the 3rd is yet .
Sugar caused me anxiety, depression, and some pretty intense panic attacks that almost led me back to a drink. If you want a little more fuel for your battle against sugar (I'm talking processed sugar by the way) there's a great paperback called Sugar Blues that you can pick up for pennies on Amazon. Enough info in that book to have the Cookie Monster change his ways.
RE the exercise thing, I've read in more than one place now (and just heard it from a recent chemistry grad who started teaching where I work) that it's been researched many times and proven over and over that exercise is more effective in treating depression than antidepressant medication.
Congratulations on day 2.

I did have a butterfinger bar last night .
I will abstain through the day though .
1 cup of coffee .and 2 diet cokes , are my caffeine allowance daily .
I noticed sugar makes me very sleepy
I think zero sugar , and zero caffeine would be perfect .

So your'e about a half day in now?
I quit sugar last week. No candy, chocolate, nothin. Went a whole week - yay.
Then netflix showed up and we got a 1/2 g of ice cream. Last night I ran out for more ice cream for a movie. AAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH! With chocolate syrup of course. But it's about a half hour after a well designed meal. Not picking on junk like I did a couple months ago.
Karate it sounds like you are doing a tremendous job of working on yourself. Keep up the good work man.

I think a lot of people, including myself, tend to eat a lot of sugary sweet stuff (chocolate in my case) to replace the sugar in alcohol. I've been sober a week and I am consuming a lot. A lot!
I suspect though that it doesn't in fact help. It might prolong any cravings rather than alleviate then. Any opinions on this?

You guys have me wonderin about this olive oil thing now . Not sure why a part of me is creeped out by the idea, but I did some quick googling on it, and it seems to have lots of benefits. Anyone know of any possible harmful effects? And has anyone seen or felt any difference from doing it? I'm always down to try new healthful things.
