Ginger ale
I have a piece of ginger root I got for a stir fry I made last week. I never thought of using it in a drink concoction. I'm gonna give it a try. Do you mince it first? Or can I just slice it thin and put it inside a steeper? I heard it's good for your digestive system.
EGNYC is right I believe Canada Dry is the only "real" ginger ale mass produced.

my mother always gave us ginger ale when we were sick, it is supposed to calm the stomach. yes, Canada Dry was all she bought, in the little glass bottles....now I but the 2 liter size for 85 cents at walmart...but i also get a brand from the grocery store called "waist-watchers", made with splenda.
only get the diet ones these days, but the Soda Stream is wonderful for making fizzy beverages...good water and carbonation.

Hey brain, yes, you can slice it thin. I boil it for about 10 minutes, then pour it through a strainer. I like mine strong, strong enough to burn my throat. I drink it just like that, but you could put a little raw sugar or honey in it or even a spot of cream if you were so inclined.
Ginger ale doesn't taste much like real ginger to me. A good strong ginger beer is delish though, especially if it has some pulp in it. Yum!
