There was a moment, when I was in withdrawal, that I thought about drinking hand sanitizer.

It smelled like an Appletini.

Good god.

Oh yes, when I was an EMT I took care of a couple of guys who passed out at a laundry mat after drinking listerine. That minty alcohol smell was AWFUL. I also took care of a guy drunk off of rubbing alcohol outside a Wal-Mart. I could go on

When I was in rehab I couldn't have my eyeglass cleaner. I had no idea about the tanning lotion. We alcoholics are resourceful!

i had a buddy who drank mouthwash because he couldn't afford booze. He was a poor immigrant from central america. i would take him out for beers and pay for his at my bar because he was going to drink anyway. His face was always bright red but he never seemed drunk. he really didn't give two poops about anything which made me love him and feel bad for him at the same time

Yup, a defining moment was when I remembered that real vanilla had an alcohol content, opened up my spice cupboard and pulled it out. I stood there looking at it and realized I had sunk to a new low.

It's the beginning of the true end.

I personally have never heard of some these things, but with so many people with similar stories . . . they can't all be lying surely?!!

Sometimes I have to remind myself that I need to keep my own side of the street clean first. It is tempting to concern myself with what everyone else is doing though.
