Screaming nightmare

Last night I had a drinking dream. This time was worse than any other time as it was so vivid and I really believed that I was drinking again. I could taste it and I got the shivers from the awful taste. In the dream I woke up thinking thank god it was just a dream and I put my hand in this suitcase I keep in my room for trips and I could feel the cold glass of the vodka bottles. I started screaming and this is when I actually woke up for real. I had to change my jammies from sweat and I have a terrible headache today.
In a few weeks I will be at 6 months. I was so relieved when I actually woke up and realised that I had nothing stronger last night than camomile tea.

I'm sorry you had a bad dream Tetra.
Thankfully we don't get them too often

I get recurring dreams involving being holed up in a Hotel, lots of booze and Zombies trying to get in. Bit like an insanely scary version of "Shaun of the Dead".
Yes, I still have to wake up and reassure myself I'm not stuck in some sort of alcoholic zombie apocalypse far from home.
Booze truly is hell.

Dreams can be evil, especially when you "wake up" in the dream but your still asleep and dreaming!!

I'm getting very few of those not that I haven't drank in a few moths. I got them a lot before I stopped and for a while after.

Sorry the dream bothered you Tetra, I have come to realize though that these dreams we get are markers along the timeline of our recovery. I had the same thing happen to me around six months. It must be around the time that our subconscious mind catches up with our conscience. Take it as a positive, it is a sign that your mental impulses have started to go into the background were your dreams reside. Pretty soon you will make it past the threshold for them and they will fade away.

Keep up the great work, you are doing so well

It's like post war nightmares I think. If you drink for years, it's brainwashed into our mind and residues are left.
