resentment against sponsor

Has anyone ever had a resentment against their own sponsor? I think I might because of something very insignificant. I tried to IGNORE it for a long time but now I cant. Its not a major resentment but I still find it bothers me when I keep something away from her. Should I discuss the resentment with her.

Yes, you should.

Sponsors are human. And they are alcoholics in recovery. They aren't perfect, as none of us are.

If I talk to a trusted friend maybe they can tell me my part in it. I already think I know my part but hey I could be wrong.

I had a sponsor early on that was alot like my Dad is, controlling, opinionated, condescending etc. He was a great guy and I respected him very much but we used to butt heads regularly. I was just honest with him, how he triggered me and how sometimes after we'd meet up, I felt closer to a drink than before I'd see him. We actually became great friends and i realized over time that the issue was with me more than him.

Have you looked into any of the books I have recommended on here ?

If you cant afford them ,I could send you some extra copies I have .

I have given away quite a few of them .

As someone that has gone through drinking ,anxiety ,anger ,depression .... and a lot of other issues that were never formally diagnosed .

Let me tell ya this ,( not ment ugly )

Its on YOU ,to get better . Quit looking for someone to wave a magic wand and you are then "golden ".

Yes -shrinks ,therapaists ,ect can give you the tools but its on YOU to use them .

If I were you every waking moment you are not working ,id spend reading a self-help book related to your problem .

Some of the best shrinks in the business write books to help people .

10$ for a book is like spending a year in therapy .

Our problems are fluid, ever-changing and occur in real time. When I want to change something in a relationship with someone, I address that person as directly as is reasonable to do so. If the problem lies largely within me, then I consult someone who's able to help. Talking through our issues with a helpful other is an invaluable tool as it speaks directly to our personal and interpersonal struggles.

So why do you "keep something away from her"?

Remember that resentments are the number one offender. They kill people left right and centre.

You are lie'ing by ommision.
