Should I go to a meeting??
Hey everyone!! I went to a meeting tonight & I had a great time! There were just a handful of people there, but they shared their stories & then I shared my story. It felt like a huge burden lifted off my chest just speaking it out loud! Thank you all so much for the encouragement & I plan on going back tomorrow night!!

I was surprised by just how many people were willing to extend a helping hand and/or words of encouragement once the meeting was over. Overall it was a very positive experience.
I am glad to hear that you found it in you to attend as well.

Did anyone speak on the steps at all, when you went to your meeting?
I guess it was that type of meeting, story telling time.
I Hope you could relate, hope you bought a Big Book at that meeting and found a sponsor to get going on this deadly problem. Try some more meetings, try different meetings, try mens or womens meeting, try step meetings, try discussion meetings, try any and all type of meetings.

Thank you all! My sister went with me or I probably never would've walked in the door. We read just a little and the ladies all shared their story so I tried the best I could. I was so nervous & started tearing up but it made me feel so much better to share my story. At the end of the meeting we all got in a circle, held hands & said the Lords Prayer. The all welcomed me back. The meeting tonight will have several more people there & they will explain about me getting a sponser. I'm still nervous about going back tonight but I know that I'll be Ok. I'm so glad I found this website. Thank you all for listening & responding!!
Congratulations on going to that meeting and going back tonight
It seems like you are a little shy but if you can, get some numbers from the ladies at the meeting and if one or several of the women invite you for coffee after the meeting, go with them

Every meeting I've ever been to ends the same way. It's very appropriate since, as the Big Book says, we need to find a Higher Power to stop. I know I did. The hand holding reminds me that we're all in this together and need to help each other as well.
Kudos to you for making the meeting, Keep coming back.
I didn't have the courage to walk in and called the AA intergroup. They contacted a member and she took me. She has 21 years sobriety and that shows what the program is all about.
I have a little over a year sober I took my first person to a meeting yesterday.
Keep on open mind, get numbers and talk to the other woman.
