Caught a break.
Caught a break.
For work I was going to be attending this big conference in New Orleans in a couple of weeks. Before I quit drinking, I was pretty damned excited to have an excuse to get day drunk with some of my colleagues. Some of us were even flying out there a couple days in advance to do it up right!
But now that I've committed to sobriety, I have been absolutely dreading this trip. To be honest, I didn't know if my burgeoning sobriety could withstand the temptations of "The Big Easy." And what was I going to tell people? "Oh, I'm just really into club soda." I could maybe get by a day with some excuse, but no way would I get by the whole week without someone figuring out I'm on the wagon.
BUT, my boss came into my office this morning and told me the conference has been cancelled. What a relief! One day, maybe I can handle being in a town like NOLA without it being a big deal, but right now, that is most assuredly not the case. Saved by the bell.
