Hmm, I'll have to plug John's name into Pandora and give a listen. Recently, I've been listening to Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. I've found their music, and particularly their film scores, to be impressive.

Sound and smell of rain falling when I'm in bed
Fresh clean sheets
Dawn's first light
The smell of coffee in the morning
A good book
SR
When my 9 and 7 year old sons are getting along
When strangers smile
The ocean
Not having to dread doing anything hungover.

RIP Bert Jansch, his music lives.

That and listening to music, and not just death metal. Nox Arcana, Two Steps from Hell, just music in general. Normally it was a reason to have shots (to certain lyrics in certain songs), and now it's just to relax and get back to practicing guitar and drums. I didn't realize how bad I had gotten at both, since I normally only touched them when I was wasted and thought I was a rockstar.

If I had a beach or even a nearby body of water besides Lake Puddle (Mead), I'd probably enjoy time at the beach too.
This is for NATE or anyone else who gets to the Vegas area.
EVOLUTION EXPEDITIONS, Black Canyon Kayak trip - full day, starts off at base of Hoover Dam in a hot spring cave to do some meditation ceremony, than a quick jump in 50 deg water. then paddle about 12 miles below the dam. One of the best trips ever! Use this company, the make a lot of stops the others don't, soaking in hot springs and cliff diving into the river. WAY COOL.
If you go, tell them the guy from PA who loves to fish sent you.
Their new web site is under construction but there is a phone number.
This is for almost all able bodied people. Young and old.

Happiness is not having an ugly hangover when my two year old wakes up at 6 in the morning. I also love being able to be in the moment to play with my daughter and make her giggle. Before life was passing me by as alcohol made me numb.

Seeing a look of "I'm glad to see you" instead of "is he or isn't he drunk" on my wife's face when she comes home from wherever.

Having the energy and patience to play with my young son. Football, wrestling , tag, climbing random stuff? Basically anything a rambunctious 4 year old boy would want to do. In my heavy drinking days I was either drunk or entirely to hungover /snarky to spend much QUALITY time with him. That's something that still eats away at me to this day.

Using my "me time" when the wife and kids go to bed to catch up on netflix, listen to music, take a relaxing shower and reading instead of pounding beers and shots as quickly as possible.

Going to the gym almost daily (I've lost almost 20 pounds thus far and look SO much better, didn't realize show puffy, red and swollen I looked)

I'll add more later :-)

Training my pointer.

Listening to my six year old struggle to sound out words as she learns to read books aloud to me on my lap.

this is such a lovely thread. It's just starting to get warm here in New England and it makes me happy when people are driving past me as I walk with their windows down blasting feel-good music.

also I won't be hungover tomorrow and am repairing my relationship with my mom by spending the day painting my room with her. Looking forward to another day of being CAPABLE!

I have to add: days that are warm in the sun and cool in the shade.
