Finally made it through day 1
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be...rigid muscles, anxiousness - but I've definitely been through much worse (in my vodka days).
Thanks for all the support, considering I kept saying over and over again I was going to do a day 1 and kept putting it off. Best thing is, I can go in and read to my daughter's class, sober, today!
Still tough days ahead I am sure, but so glad day 1 is over!

glad you're doing better today. for me, th first few days were always the hardest. I wasn't an every day drinker, mostly binge type. Just take one sober day at a time.

Miley would have totally gone cowboy if she wouldn't have gotten arrested for it. After all, she slides out on a giant replica of her tongue to get her concert started.

Heck, she might even put you and me to shame. :@

Good work Freethinking. Now you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you CAN do this. All you have to worry about is staying sober today....and you just did. Stay with us here, the old AV or addiction will undoubtedly throw some curveballs at you - but we've got your back if you need it.

Thanks, everyone. I'm cautiously optimistic. Yesterday I saw my psych and got on some new antidepressants. Tomorrow I finally meet with a therapist who specializes in addictions. The ball feels like it's rolling, instead of sitting around repeating the same sh*t over and over again.
Congrats - proud of you!

I have really gotten into Lana Del Ray's stuff. If you listen to the lyrics of the Born to Die album you will realize the love affairs she has is with alcohol and crystal and the album is about her getting sober. I tend to relate to most of what she is going through give my addictions to cocaine and alcohol.

Yea freethinking! I'm glad the ball is rolling and things are looking better.
I'm glad you got to read to your daughters class sober. Take it easy and one day one hour and one minute at a time keep some green tea around and make yourself a cup if you feel like picking up the vodka again. I was a vodka drinker now I drink green tea with lemon and ginsing I also find it handy to keep bottled watered around. When I first stopped drinking I kept a bottle of water by the bed and would sip it and count till the craving would leave. My cravings came in physical waves and if I could get past the wave I would be ok for awhile. Next thing you know they came less and less till I hardly thought about vodka at all. I'm to the point now where I don't miss drinking at all the thought of drinking now is repulsive to me.
