About 2.5 months (sort of) Hey guys, I went to rehab in very early January of this year. This is my first time in treatment. I am an alcoholic. I don't have any experience with any other drugs except for pot maybe 4-5 times. I'm 24. Male. Anyway, my drinking turned into daily binge drinking after I graduated college in 2012. Spin out of control over the next 2 years and my life became ridiculous and entirely unmanageable. My life equated to self-destruction. This was a daily struggle. The depression that came from it grew to the point where I wanted to die. So I went to rehab and that has helped me so much. I'm physically healthy again and my head is clear. A few weeks ago I had one drink and then felt awful about it and immediately stopped and I haven't drank since. I don't want to either. AA wasn't worked for me. In fact, some AA related problems led to that drink. I stopped doing AA and I have absolutely no desire to drink and feel much happier and better about myself than I did whole doing AA. I would like to get feedback about experiences in recovery and whether or not you found AA wasn't helping so you did something else? |
Glad to see you back someonelikeyou0 :) There's many different approaches and methods of recovery around - here's some links to some of the main players including but not limited to AA: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...formation.html I recommend you visit the Secular Connections forum if you think you may benefit from a non 12 step approach. Glad you are doing well. I didn't stick around with AA for that long. There are other modes of recovery. I hope you find one that suits you xxxxx |
I'm glad you are doing well. I went to AA off and on. I also tried NA, SMART, LifeRing, Women for Sobriety, and Rational Recovery approaches. They all had benefits and downsides for me. Lots of people get sober without meetings. |
