Heartache
Heartache
I read a thread the other day asking how would you cope with sobriety if something REALLY bad happened. Well I had two heartbreaking things happen today, I won't bore you with the details, but I had no desire to drink whatsoever. I have been sober for a good few years but today was a very testing time. I think I have murdered my AV and buried it at the bottom of the sea forever. So I suppose I am saying that eventually you can really lick this thing good and proper, If someone has told me that 10 -15 years ago, I would never have believed it. Thanks for listening xxxxx

Our first reaction when we have recovered and in sobriety is not to drink. Its an amazing feat, accomplishment. But life happens, and people die, its just life and human nature. So to think that when we stop drinking that we are immune from life, and life will start to happen in a bubble is just another fantasy.
KateL, awesome to hear your beyond accepting the ugly offer of self-destruction that drink tries to doll up as a solution to our heartaches. We know better now and forevermore.

Kate,
I'm so sorry you are hurting. Thanks for the constant inspiration on the boards and for your positive message today. It says a great deal about someone that will reach out to inspire others when they are hurting. Thank you for caring enough about all of us to post this. Keeping you in good thoughts.

Sorry for you misfortunes as of late, but if nothing else good cones of this knowing the strength of your sobriety may be enough!
Brighter days ahead!
