It's not what you drink, or when, or how much - it's how it affects your life. If it's causing problems then it's time to stop.

Well, to me, the amounts you have mentioned seem like a LOT. I drank hard liquor but would barely manage half a litre a day (hahahahhaa - that sounds so ridiculous... because that really is a lot to any normie) whilst my drinking buddy probably drank about twice the amount I drank.

Anyway, I am just so glad I got sober and I really hope you do too.

I think I do want to get sober. I know that when I did get sober, even if it was just a few months, my body thanked me for it. I have other problems that I think an actual inpatient rehab could help me with, but I don't know anyone who has been to one.

DAG - I have never been to an IP rehab either although my last detox off alcohol was, in effect, done via a medically induced coma.... far, far better to go to IP rehab in my opinion!

I have to go to bed and get some zzzzzz's before work so I will bid you good night and best wishes

I've gotten to the point where being sober sounds like a dream. So I am getting to the point where I would pay for as long as it takes to get there. It would be a lot better to spend money on recovering than on all the alcohol I am drinking.

Go to rehab! The detox will be safe and probably a lot more comfortable. Just do it.

I'm definitely considering it, Jade. The detox I went to a couple of years ago seemed like it was mostly for vagrants getting arrested at the park. But actual rehab sounds like a place where I could get more help for treating my alcoholism. I went to an addictions counselor at that same facility and they did very little to address the problems linked to my alcoholism. So in short, I'd like to find a rehabilitation center where they could better help me.

My alcoholism is starting to affect my job, so I need to do something about it relatively quick. I have insurance, so I should use it if I need it. I just don't know where they have alcohol rehab where I live.

Maybe go out of state? I hear there's tons in California. You really want to go to a professional one.

I didn't even think about that caboblanco. Thanks for that tip, because I bet that's probably the best place to find out.

Hi Dag. Everything you say seems to point to a very real, serious and immediate problem. You have been diagnosed with alcoholic hepatitis and are still drinking very large amounts of alcohol. Your doctor or your health insurance company should be able to give you the names of good rehab/detox facilities. All the best to you. SR is here for you and rooting for you.

I actually just called a rehab center and they are working to figure out my insurance situation. I want to recover, and it sounds like they have the ability to help.

I just went out sunday morning and bought another bottle. I don't know how many drinks that is, but I feel really ashamed about it.
That amount would kill me Dag literally, and I'm 6'1 210 lbs.

You consumed almost 100 units of alcohol. I need to stop and I drink not even half of that....

Thanks for the support. I have wanted to do this for quite some time. I'm finally ready to let go of my self pride and take the help I need.

Sorensen, I'm only 5'7" but I weigh 250 lbs, so I know that contributes to my tolerance. But I know it's definitely not healthy. I need to stop, especially since I've already have liver problems.

I'm really embarrassed that I let myself get that bad. All of my friends, family, and coworkers are really scared for my life. I don't want to let them down like I have been.

You have to do what is right for 'you'. IF you are going at the rate you are going with the drinking you will inevitably lose your job anyway and possibly your life. Besides there are certain laws that protect you if you seek mental health treatment (REHAB). Good Luck and think of yourself first. If it is a job worth keeping then they will understand. If they do not understand then why would you want to work there anyway...?
