waking too early

I'm now 43 days sober.

I seem to have trained myself into waking too early. I wake up most days between 5.30 and 6.30, and go bed between 11-12.

This "problem" has been going on for quite some time and I think it stems back to my drinking, as in the the last 2 years of my drinking I would often wake at this time and the hangover would kick in.

Im not deathly tired, but its starting to annoy me more than anything.

Im not the kind of person who wants to start taking pills or anything, also not sure if the doctor can do anything, as I think its just a stupid sleep patter that is now entrenched, but im happy to be proven wroong.

anyone have any ideas?

P.S should I even care? perhaps this is just normal?

LOL that's my sleep pattern - but I like that way.

Heavier curtains might do the trick - or read a book for a while - always sends me back to sleep

Well I have a 5 year old and a job.

I'm reading it could be caused by depression, i think I may have some mild depression, but not sure.

But then I read that many people only get 6-7 hours a night.

Oh I guess I will just see what happens.

Leonardo da Vinci slept like 2 hours a day I heard. In a series of 10 minute power naps throughout the day. So your schedules pretty normal considering

Apparently back in the day it was common for people to have two periods of sleep in a night. An uninterrupted 7-8 hours is a modern invention. It's interesting.

Segmented sleep - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I need a good 8-9 hours and I usually wake up for a while at some point.

My mum and nana had what we call 'cat' naps in an afternoon for a little while, then it kept them going, a big like a power nap, I should think,

I sometimes have eight to nine hours, but can usually manage ok with 6 to 7. Had a dreadful night's sleep last night because of fibromyalgia pain and weird dreams. I try to write stuff down and empty my thoughts for a good night's kip. Congrats on 43 days xxxx

This post is timely for me as I woke up at 330 this morning but wouldn't allow myself to get out of bed until 4am. I've been sober for slightly over a year. My sleep patterns have been wonky. Sometimes I sleep too much and other times I can't get enough. I think my issue is I've had too much on my mind with work as well as my relationship lately. Waking up temporarily at 230 am is pretty typical for me as that is when my son always woke up when he was a baby...and that pattern still going after 17 years! For me I try to figure out what is going on so I can work on letting things go ....that generally helps.
