Sorry if I scared you but I'm in school too and what you said describes how I started out problem drinking perfectly. I had been drinking for years before that without any issues but over the course of a few months my mindset changed (and with it, my reasons for drinking.) If I had recognized it at the time then I probably could have taken a step back and gotten better. Instead I didn't and it spiraled downward.
Sober sleep is much better than drunken sleep. Drinking out of boredom eventually brings you to the point where you're bored when you don't drink.

Don't you find that drinking messes with your concentration the next day? Back in the day I noticed even one drink would mess with my ability to think during class the next day. I wasn't taking courses anywhere near what you must have being a medical student. That's a lot of time and money to spend on an education and not get the most of it.
you're absolutly right man
but even if i drink everynight before bed i never reached the point of being drunk and falling asleep i just feel sleepy after drinking and i fall a sleep fast , thats the whole thing

I think you've caught the problem before it becomes a big issue, so that's a good thing.
I couldn't fall asleep unless I was drunk. Mentally relax enough to want to sleep or to physically fall asleep. I was afraid of withdrawal so the only way I went to sleep was hammered, which ended up leading to waking up 4 hours later, basically sober, and then drinking to fall back asleep.

im realy scared of turning into alcoholic or something , i do like drinking and having fun but since i had nothing to do late at night i started drinking just to fall asleep
and i wanted to know something else
does alcoholism depends on the amount you drink or the duration of drinking
and when it's considered as a red sign that i have to stop drinking ?

Only you know if you need to stop drinking or not. I drank to get hammered daily and didn't consider it a problem until I was going through withdrawal everyday, it was the only thing I worried about, and it completely ran my life.

Doesn't it worry you tho that you're already compromising Mindood?'
30 days (including weekends) really should be no problem for people with no booze problems, even university students.
Only you can know whether it's social pressure to fit in, or because you really can't go that long without a drink....

i agree with dee, try 30 days and notice the difference.
after a couple weeks you will feel your body sleeping better, waking up feeling better,
and youll enjoy not getting out of bed to urinate all the time
GOOD LUCK

I dunno....it really depends on how much THINKING about drinking engulfs your mind. Just my opinion but I find that if someones drinking has caused them to log onto a site like this....then its already become a problem for them.
Newcomers | About AA | Alcoholics Anonymous (Great Britain) Ltd
This is the UK site for AA, and it has 12 questions anyone new can ask themselves about their drinking. Doesn't mean you have to go to AA, but is a pretty good self assessment of how your drinking is affecting your life, and could help you make that decision about whether or not you're an alcoholic.
Very best to you
