Where is the motivation?
Hi guys, I'm 34 days sober, wanted to quit drinking so I could get more motivation/energy to get out there and get a job, be more productive.
All the cravings have gone, no desire to drink, but all I want to do is lie in bed all day, no get up and go. I do walk my dog for an hour a day but still feel lazy, no energy.
I'm quite surprised because I thought the opposite would happen?

Welcome to SR.
My first post to SR, after a couple weeks sober, was a question about why I wasn't getting done all the things I had put off to drink.
I was told to be patient. Give myself time to heal. Focus on my recovery.
But it wasn't an energy issue with me. Perhaps a visit to the doctor to see if it isn't recovery related.

Thanks for your help,
I'm going to give it at least another month before I get concerned if it is drink related or not.
By the way, this isn't my first post, I deleted my threads before because they were all a bit too much information to be on the internet forever

I am 4weeks sober and had the same experience initially. I have really ramped up my fitness regime and began taking an intense rapid toning class that really gets the heart rate up. I now have tons of energy. Try some rigorous exercise. You won't feel like it at first but make yourself - you will get the toxins out of your system quicker and get the energy you are looking for.

My first thought was motivation to do what? I'm retired and don't have the motivation to stay in bed all day! Do you work? If not, where is your income coming from? Apparently you're eating, and you can afford to feed a dog. Do you go to AA meetings? What or who are you using to not dink? Just wondering??
Dear alwaysdrinkin,
Maybe you do not have sufficient vitamins...
or you have low blood pressure...
Get a Doctors check up!
It sounds odd but the more sports you do...
the stronger you get and the more energy you get.
I have periods of low energy too.
maybe change your diet, variety of food the best...
the less junk food the better of course.
Hope you feel stronger soon and full of energy

When I said I feel like staying in bed all day...I don't actually lie in bed all day, I mean I don't feel like doing anything.
No I don't work...why?....because I have got a bad case of tinnitus, only work I can get is working in noisy environments, looking for work that won't make my ears worse and drive me to suicide.
Living at home with parents, parents feed the dog, parents feed me.
Don't go to AA meetings, me making a promise to myself that I'm not going to waste anymore of my life drinking.
