Interesting dreams lately....

So the past several nights, I've dreamt about drinking again. I'm not actually drinking in the dream, but finding myself in scenarios where I've slipped after the fact and dealing with the consequences. Or, I'll see in the future (within the dream) that I got drunk and then abstain in the moment I would have started and feel good about that.

It wouldn't be remarkable to me if it wasn't all so frequent these days. I think it's because my anxiety lately has been elevated and booze was my anxiety medicine. Plus, I'm nearing a big milestone in sobriety (6 months) that continues to be uncharted territory and have been thinking a lot about it.

Anyone else experience drinking dreams lately (or frequently)?

Congratulations on almost 6 SOBER Months TucTee!

I had drinking dreams often at first. So vivid I would move my head slowly when I woke up, expecting the all too familiar hang-over. It was always such a relief when I fully woke up and realized it was only a dream.

I still have them occasionally, but since I stopped worrying about them they do not seem to occur as often.

I consider them a good mental reminder of a part of my life I never want to return to.

I'm not one to search for meanings in dreams - I think I dreamt of drinking because I did a lot of it

I still dream about High School and Uni too but I have no desire to go back to either

I'm with Dee on this one, I try not to read too much into my dreams. I am over a year in and still have dreams about drinking occasionally. I think it's just your mind having a little unconscious excersise and not generally a direct indicator of anything major.

I have them all the time , to the point of some nights waking up in a cold sweat .

Anxeity disorders cause them too .

It's just life . For some of us

I think you guys are right, no need to dwell. What matters is what I'm doing when I'm conscious, and that's not drinking.

I'm on day 4 and feel extremely exhausted every morning. I've been having dreams about my SO cheating or my son drowning. They are so vivid and seem real. I couldn't understand it but after reading your post, maybe alcohol was my anxiety medicine. Without it, my inner fears are coming out while I sleep! Interesting!
