I'm freezing

I think a move to Florida is on the cards. It's 4 degrees outside but with that icy wind it might as well be -4.

I haven't had a drink in almost three months, but I have recently come home and inside out of the cold and all I can think about is a hot whiskey.

All I want is to climb into bed with the electric blanket, hot whiskey and remote control for the TV. (I don't know why I'm thinking about this as I never drank whiskey ever.) I know it would never be just one whiskey, if I started it would be more like one bottle of whiskey.

Anyway, I am about to climb into the bath with a cup of green tea instead.

Can anyone else relate?

I do relate to the cold, it is freezing here also – I am not missing whiskey though.

The Mexican gulf is doing its best and sending one low pressure system after the other over the Atlantic, but we are under the influenza of a high pressure system in Russia – I do not think we will get temperatures over freezing this week at least.

I am missing the warmer air from the atlantic and some rain.

Yeah. My boiler is broken at the moment (it breaks down every year), but I remember the first time this happened I thought about drinking, like that would keep me warm... This time I just got an extra fan heater and a hot water bottle. Our AV will use anything to try and trick us into drinking x

No I can't really relate.
Expecting 35 today, hotter tomorrow, then it drops to 25, followed by a couple pushing 40. We recently had four in a row between 40 &45......

Odd that about the whisky~might indicate how tricky alcohol can be.

No hot whiskey for me either, but I grew up
with a heating blanket for all my beds till I
got to the age of menopause. I MISS how i
couldn't wait to crawl in my bed and make
it all toasty warm and sniggle in for the night.

Now, even in winter and a cold snap hits us
in Baton Rouge, I still have my fan on to keep
me cool. lol

A hot cup of soup, cocoa, tea, warm bath,
fuzzy slippers, no alcohol, relax and stay sober.

Fans are great as A/C TENDS TO BE CLAMMY, NOT TO MENTION NOISY.

The heat wave conditions will be over here in a few months........then we will all be complaininabout that long cold winter.

Yeap I can relate, and I was a whisky drinker, cold evenings and a wee dram was always a romanticised idea in my head, until it turned into a bottle and an awful hangover the next morning.

I've switched to green/white teas . . . just as warm, calming, without the hangover!!

It's been in the single digits here lately as well and I too have been thinking a lot about possibly moving to Florida as my parent's are snowbirds and down there half the year. There is definitely something to be said about the benefits of vitamin D as well as many studies about seasonal depression. I realize in the end it's not where you are geographically that is important however I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to go and stay outside year round.

I know that if i hopped in to that warm bed with hot whisky i'd probably not get out alive. i do relate to the desire to curl up and get off the merry go round. But in sobriety i have to face my fear. Face Everything And Recover. And it will pass...
You're doing good
Very good

I had a hot toddy once when I was sick. I could see how it would be a nice treat for a normal drinker but... A drink is a drink is a drink. They all end up doing the same thing - sticking us back to day one, hating ourselves. If you're asking if I can relate to the cold, I'm a SoCal native. I've been in cold places for vacation or work trips, though. The worst was when I visited my sister in San Francisco during the Winter and she was living in this drafty old house with no working heater. It was the absolute worst because I was totally unprepared for it. I slept with a space heater near the bed for the whole night under a cartoonish mound of blankets.

This thread just shows how tricky the AV can be because we're in for a nice hot February, and my AV likes to suggest a cold white wine.
I would like to be in London where it's not super-cold, but cold nonetheless.
