Question Day 3: Feeling Weird

Former weekend binge drinker and my last (and final binge) was last Sunday. I have also been diagnosed with anxiety since I was 13 years old. I have never suffered withdrawal symptoms and don't suffer hang overs (well I do suffer emotional hangovers).

However this evening I am feeling agitated and like my heart is racing. I have had anxiety attacks before and it feels like this may just be anxiety but now I'm concerned its leftovers from the booze. I went for a walk, ate a baked potato with some broccoli, drinking plenty of water, took a shower and I still feel awkward.

It is possible to be fine the first few days sober than suddenly experience withdrawal symptoms?

Is sounds like it might be some anxiety or withdrawal symptoms but doesn't sound dangerous given your symptoms. Possible a mild panic attack? My heart races but the more I get upset about it the worse it gets. So Just remember to breathe deeply and take care of yourself tonight <3 it gets better.

It's possible to get a bit of a delayed reaction, especially in anxiety...if you're really concerned seeing a Dr is best, NH.

mrrryah PAWS is post acute withdrawal - it can kick in from about one month for some of us - 3 days is much more likely to be connected to initial withdrawal.

Once I distract myself I feel better so I'm thinking anxiety but I'll mention it to my doctor when I see them this coming week.

It's probably anxiety, but go to the ER if anything happens.

Day 3 is a stinker - but hang in there, it gets better soon
If you are worried though, a quick trip to the doctor, as others have said, is a good idea x

Okay, so I thought I had a doctor's appointment today but it was actually yesterday and the closet appointment I was able to get was three weeks from now... On day four and my heart rate still feels weird. I checked my pulse and it seems normal..
