Havent been to a meeting a week because I have had the flu badly
I feel fine eventhough I haven't been to a meeting in over a week. I have had the flu really bad and have been feeling so bad and a bad cough and cold. Today I am finally healed up but wont start going to meetings again until Saturday morning because I have to work the next two days and no meetings after I work. I have missed a lot of work because of this illness. I got a doctors note I hope I don't get fired because I really need this job. I have my parents to fall back on but I don't want to this job makes me feel good about myself no matter how ****** it is.
I told the doctor I was an alcoholic he prescribed codeine at first I wasn't going to take it but my mom said I should only at night just to help me sleep and stop the coughing. So I talked to my sponsor about it and she said I could take it only if I felt comfortable and that I didn't abuse it. I only take it at night and my mom keeps the bottle and dispenses it to me. I don't feel like I am breaking my sobriety because It contains no alcohol and a very small amount of codeine. I only take the smallest dose just enough to help no more than that. I also am celebrating nine months of sobriety so far.
Life feels great and it is wonderful to be alive and sober. If I lose this job then I am sure I will find another one.

Don't worry about the codeine. Worst come to shove, wait for a night you don't work next day and skip a dose. You'l know soon enough if you are getting dependent on it.
Just an idea. Congratulations on your sobriety!
