Never thought I'd be here

Hi all! New to the group and 7 days into sobriety!

I am a wino, that's my drink of choice. I can't just have 1 or 2 drinks, I have to finish a magnum...in one sitting. I have to pass out to go to sleep at night. I get up the next day with a minimal hangover...I miss telling my kids good night and am too drunk or passed out to have a normal relationship with my husband.

That was the old me. Now I am trying to find my way in this new life.

Welcome! I'm a former wino. Drank when I got home from work till I passed out. Started drinking even earlier on the weekends. Then added a cocktail, or two, before opening the wine. Soon had to drink just to function. Did love my wine though and thought I'd never live without it. Now sober several months. Sometimes still waiting for the ax to fall (relapse) but every day sober reinforces my understanding of how incredibly destructive my drinking was and how enslaved I was to it. Am loving my new found sobriety, even a bad day is better than a drinking day. So I wish you success. 7 days is awesome. It ain't easy but as I've learned, it does get easier the longer you stay sober.
