Two years sober today!!

I did it!!! I am in somewhat disbelief today that it is exactly two years since I decided on this very site to not drink again.

I don't really know how to congratulate myself or how to feel about this achievement as I was never really proud of myself for things as they were always overrided by the fact I was drinking to excess.

Anyway, I have beat the odds, living in Ireland where the drinking culture is huge.

I suppose writing this down here is making it real to me.

My life is better than it ever was and I want to thank SR for all the support and to all the friends that I have made. I don't get on here so much anymore, but I will never forget what and who kept me on the straight and narrow, particularly in the early days.

Living sober is the best thing I ever did for myself.

Well done Sunny, really nice to read. I remember reading about how well you were doing and all the changes you were making to your life, seeing you and others doing that kept me going when I have struggled. :c011:

Thanks regeneration and great to see you.

I found the stories of people doing well so helpful when I first quit. hearing people reach milestones made me see it is possible, even if it did all seem like an impossibility to me back then.

I think it is important to look at every day as a success and not focus too much on the big milestones as that can seem overwhelming.

I am sitting in the exact same spot I was in when I wrote that first thread on here new years day 2012. But apart from that, everything in my life is different.

Life is meant to be lived without alcohol and none of us can see how beautiful and truly incredible it can be when we are drinking and drunk.

:thanks to everyone that supported me. I feel so truly blessed. xxx
