It's an amazing milestone. I let my one-year anniversary slide with no real contemplation or celebration. At two years, I thought I might be onto something here. Then I hit three, and thought this just might be a doable thing.

I still have tons of work to do, and combined with mental health issues of depression and panic combined with probable brain damage from 40 years of drinking and drugging, I hold onto what some folks with a decade or more of sobriety say: We're pretty much screwed up until we get five years under our belt.

I am not going to dismiss my two years in favour of the big FIVE.

Two years is a massive milestone to me - someone who never thought they would make a fortnight.

Of course those with a decade have done amazingly, but I think it is these early years that are the hardest - and so far I am nailing them
