Aha!! You won't get me this time LOL and I am voting NO right now, not because I am cocky but because I am a non drinker who does not drink no matter what.

I'm signing up for a 'No'.

I reach my year sober on 27 Jan and have already sent off for my celebratory earrings, so I will choose not to drink as they're lovely and I want to be worthy of them!

We're going out for a meal early afternoon tomorrow and then seeing in the New Year at home on TV. The slimline tonic is already in the fridge, cooling nicely for the 12 o'clock toast . . . . Bring it on!

I can pretty much guarantee a big fat NO from me!! Came down with the cold today so I don't even feel I could manage, never mind want, a drink!

I am looking forward to 2014!

Hmmm, certainly hope not! Never know with me though... The resolve to not drink could be very strong at say 6pm but by 9pm I could be drunk as a fart.... Probably have to have a fairly low key New Year's Eve this year. No big parties or anything....

Maybe, I'm not understanding this as New years Eve 2013 isn't until Tuesday here in the U.S. were you talking about this past New Year by chance?

Anyway, 1998 was the last one for me.

I voted no. This will be # 4 for me. Right at 4.8 years sober.
Happy new year

Hi Captainzing...New Years here tonight. Just vote if you made it through YOUR new years eve drink/drug free. No matter when or what time in the world it falls for everyone.

Good luck.

I think I'm safe tonight, I won't be drinking. I didn't make it through Christmas Day sober though.

Im not putting myself into a situation where alcohol is around, so I cant be tempted(in return - upset).

So no, I'm not going to drink.

My goal far exceeds tomorrow, new year's - is just another day, i'm not even ''proud'' about it.

Just the way its gotta be now.

1:50pm here on 31st and the cravings are hitting me a lot harder than on Christmas Day.... I'm already being accused of being anti social for declining an invite to a house party where everyone will be getting smashed and now my safety net of staying home has been ruptured due to my sister changing her plans and inviting several friends round for dinner - which will inevitably turn to a **** up... I could lock my self away in my room but my ego is terrified of coming across as a loser and a weirdo to my sisters friends for being alone on New Year's Eve.... Oh what to do, what to do...

Yes! That would be awesome haha. I'm sure it won't be a problem... I'd much rather appear abit anti social on one evening than drink and end up back in that miserable cycle!

There was a similar one at Christmas. I personally enjoyed voting and checking back for responses on that thread, as well as on this one. It's nice to read about the resolve that many of us feel re: not celebrating with alcohol, and in some ways, helps to facilitate making a holiday plan. I would hope that it might also provide some encouragement to those struggling with their decision, as the majority responding on this thread seem to be choosing to abstain.

You can do it, Matty. It's just one night. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. It matters how you take care of yourself and your own needs.
