They would become catatonic and just lay around all day. Some of mine do that already tho.

I saw it and laughed. The first thing that came to mind was that no matter the species, if alcohol is involved we'll always find a reason.

"Catatonic" lol

When my cat was a kitten I had a very small Christmas tree. He saw me bring it out and I swear he did a run up and attacked it with everything he had. He completely wrecked it. So cute.

THIS.. is why I don't "do" Xmas trees. LOL My pets. I know my male dog would pee on it and the cats would DESTROY the crap out of it. Also I'm allergic... And ornaments are dangerous to animals. And... I think the tree water (if real, duh) is toxic to them as well. All of these things add credibility to my total lack of participation in the Xmas department. Thank you animals. ;-)

I stopped putting up a tree for a few years. My daughter, son in law, and grandkids spend Christmas at her dads so I only see them long enough to open presents and have a quick meal. I get them all for Thanksgiving. The first year I decided to not put one up I was a little sad on Christmas day. The next few days after I listened to people lament about having to pull everything apart and just silently smiled to myself. A few times I said "I'm already done!".

A few years later I got a bit nostalgic and decided that I wanted one. I went and bought one of those little tabletop trees that already have the lights strung. It comes right out of the box and you just adjust the branches and put it in the stand. I bought little bells and ornaments that aren't glass and there's a gold bow ribbon at the top. It takes 30 minutes to set up and decorate and 30 mins to take it down. No mess with water or futzing with lights and I still get the atmosphere.

My cat loves to sit in the chair next to our tabletop tree, but she never messes with it.

Here's an old cat thread in case some don't check out that area of the forun. http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ers-group.html

Some funny videos there, and lots of cool cat talk.
