Sunset at the Marsh

Sitting here at almost 4 pm on the 4th day of the longest stretch I've been sober in, aw, 'bout 30 years, I guess. Ohhhh, that 4 o'clock is calling me, calling me, calling meeeeeeeeee…….

But nope. Just gotta keep those buttocks in the chair.
Hangin' on by a hair.

Didn't sweat the sheets thru last night,
but my hair's a fright.
Forgot to brush it today - the fog got in the way.

The fog, oh the fog.

Standing in the dollar store, staring at the toilet paper. Just staring, feeling light in my head, or stoned.

But I didn't ingest that 5 year old stuff sitting the drawer, although maybe I oughter

Can't, though, neighbor's got a nose
long as Pinocchio's.

She be tellin' all the hood
I an't any good.

"Oh do you know what's going on over there!
The smell, I SWEAR!"

Now looking at the posts on here, I remember I'm codependent, too.
What a marshy stew!
What to Do?

Before I'm 62!?

Well hang in there. If you are ready for a change then make it! Nothing changes if we don't change. I enjoy this site and going to A.A. as well. I used to have that terminal uniqueness... thought I was the only one struggling with alcohol... but I wasn't and you aren't either, no matter what your addiction. Get off of that chair and get to a meeting, or call a friend or keep reading here! You can do it!

First week of hell
Oh that smell
Hanging on by a hair
I was there
Sweat, fog and empty stares
WTF, who the hell cares
4pm x 30 years
Tears, snares who the hell cares
Yeah you oughta, think of your daughter
Ingest, detest, get straight whats my fate
What to do at 62
Just today, just one day, price to pay
No roll in the hay
Just my say

( I liked how you put your struggle to words, it made me want to respond in a similar fashion. Hang in there. A lot of us know where you're at. Feel free to come into the chat room too if you're needing support. There's usually someone in there. Be well)
